Yellow fever is a viral disease that is spread by mosquitoes daylight bites in tropical parts of Africa and South America. It occurs in both jungle and urban environments and is particularly common in the rainy season.
Early symptoms of yellow fever include fever, muscle pain, headache, shivers, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. In severe cases these symptoms progress to jaundice, haemorrhagic fever and deterioration of kidney function, the fatality rate of yellow fever is approximately 5%.
