Impotence

Impotence (Erectile Dysfunction) is the inability to get and maintain an erection that is sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. Impotence is a very common condition, particularly in older men. It is estimated that half of all men between the ages of 40 and 70 will have it to some degree.

There are four main types of health conditions that can cause physical problems resulting in impotence. These are:

  • Vasculogenic – conditions that affect the flow of blood to your penis
  • Neurogenic – conditions that affect your nervous system, which is made up of your brain, nerves and spinal cord
  • Hormonal – conditions that affect your hormone levels
  • Anatomical – conditions that affect the physical structure of your penis

Various mental health conditions may cause you to develop ED. They include:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Depression

Oral impotence treatments have become the preferred option for most men suffering from this condition. All available treatments work in a similar way, by helping more blood to flow to your penis so you can achieve a better erection.
