Thrush

Thrush is a common yeast infection experienced by both men and women though it is more often associated with women. It is fairly harmless but it can uncomfortable and can keep returning if untreated. Vaginal thrush is the most common form of thrush with symptoms including:

  • Itching and soreness
  • Pain in general, during sex or when urinating
  • Vaginal Discharge
  • Irritation

If you have the symptoms of thrush for the very first time it is important to see a GP as the symptoms of vaginal thrush are sometimes similar to those of a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

The doctor will use a combination of your description of the symptoms, a visual examination and a swab to confirm that you have a yeast infection.
