Typhoid fever is a contagious bacterial disease affecting the digestive system. It is transmitted by the ingestion of food or water contaminated by the faeces of an infected person.
Symptoms of typhoid fever include severe fever and headache, muscle aches, chills, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation and diarrhoea.
You should be vaccinated if you are travelling to Indian sub-continent (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh), South-east Asia, ports of Latin America and Africa.
